Yaquina Bay Bridge in Newport, Oregon

The Yaquina Bay Bridge is an arch bridge that crosses Yaquina Bay near Newport, Oregon. It’s one of the most well-known bridges on the US Route 101 and was designed by Conde McCullough. The Yaquina Bay Bridge outshines the previously installed ferry crossing because it can accommodate more cars at a quicker pace than regular ferries.

This bridge also offers a spectacular view of the Yaquina Bay and its surrounding areas. The bridge has become an iconic sight in Newport, with hundreds of people coming to visit each year. It’s also a popular spot for fishing and kayaking, as well as providing access to nearby beaches. Thanks to the Yaquina Bay Bridge, traveling through the area is much easier and more enjoyable. As you can see, it’s easy to understand why the Yaquina Bay Bridge is so beloved by locals and visitors alike. So, if you’re ever in the area, be sure to take some time to appreciate this magnificent bridge. You’ll be glad you did!

Reviews of Yaquina Bay Bridge

“This bridge is so beautiful, I make a point to walk up every time I’m in Newport. There’s parking and beautiful stairs conveniently tucked beneath the bridge and narrow sidewalks on both sides of the bridge. And, no sketchy people under! Score! The photo opportunities are endless, I could have spent hours up here with a good camera. I would not suggest bringing small kids onto the bridge, as the sidewalks are too narrow to be able to walk side by side and hold hands. Well behaved dogs might be okay, but cars go pretty quick and there is little to no barrier between the sidewalk and the road.”

“We braved the walk over and back one early October morning. The sidewalks are narrow and a little scarey but that didn’t bother us. Ones you get to the top the views are nothing short of absolutely flippin amazing! We were blessed with a clear and sunny sky and i imagine a typical foggy or rainy day would not be as pretty (ok, it would suck…). We recommend going accross on one side and back on the other to get the most of the views. Wear a coat or a jacket or whatever. Gloves too. It gets cold and windy up there!”

Pete Stofiel

“The bridge is an architectural masterpiece. I marvelled at it as a boy and still admire it as a grandpa. The bridge has moods. In brilliant sunlight it looks formal and serious. In fog it evokes gothic mystery. In rain it beckons safety. Way back, the planners decided to build a bridge that would add to Yaquina Bay, not take away from it.”
