Top Five Spring Break Rockaway Beach Activities to Enjoy When Staying with Oregon Beach Vacations

Rockaway Beach has been a popular vacation destination since 1909. Tucked in between Manzanita and Pacific City, this charming coastal gem boasts miles of sandy beach, countless outdoor activities, and great places to dine and shop.

Here are our top five family-friendly Rockaway Spring Break activities:

Beach Bakeshop.

Start your day with a fresh cup of coffee (hot chocolate or a steamer for the kiddos) and a homemade pastry. Locals and visitors alike love their bacon-cheddar “biscones,” a cross between a biscuit and a scone, and decadent cinnamon rolls. 5

Let’s Go Fly a Kite!

Every August the largest kite flying contest in the Northwest happens at Rockaway Beach. Stop by Flamingo Jim’s Gifts and Clothing, to pick up a kite (and other fun beach-themed souvenirs), and join in on the kite flying fun! 

Catch some crabs!

Kelly’s Brighton Marina is the perfect place to give crabbing a go. You can toss your trap right off their dock, or head out on a guided crab catching excursion to Nehalem Bay. The friendly crew will even show you how to clean and cook your catch of the day! 

Take a tour.

Grab lunch at the Tillamook Creamery where you can indulge in cheesy classics like Tillamook mac & cheese, grilled cheese sandwiches, fried cheese curds, and cheeseburgers. After lunch, enjoy a scoop or two of ice cream, then take a self-guided tour of the creamery, or stop by the market store for a souvenir. 

Drop a line at Lytle Lake.

Rockaway Beach’s largest lake covers over 65 acres, and offers a fishing dock and a boat launch. The lake is stocked from mid-March through early May with trout, and large-mouth bass.
