People from all over the world come to Depoe Bay for a chance to spot gray whales. Lucky for you, you can spot these majestic mammals along the central coast almost any time of the year. From mid-December to early February, more than 25,000 gray whales pass by as they head south to the warmer waters of Mexico. You can also see them making their way back north to Alaska every spring. During the summer, there are also 40-50 resident gray whales that hang out close to the shore to feed. One of the best places to view these powerful mammals is from the large viewing deck at The Depoe Bay Whale Watching Center. Prefer to get up close and personal?
