Each year, Lincoln City’s mysterious “Float Fairies” carefully hide hand-blown glass floats along the beaches for lucky visitors to find. These one-of-a-kind treasures are created by talented local glass artists and are placed across seven miles of sandy shoreline, from Roads End to Siletz Bay.

2025 Special Spring Break Float Drop Dates
Mark your calendar: From March 22-April 19, 2025, Lincoln City is hosting a Special Spring Break Float Drop with an additional 200 floats hidden across the beaches.
That’s almost a month of treasure hunting, rain or shine. Whether you’re visiting for a weekend or staying for the entire spring break, your chances of finding a float have never been better.
What Is Finders Keepers?
Finders Keepers is a uniquely Oregon Coast experience that began in 1999 and has only grown in popularity. Inspired by Japanese fishing floats that once washed ashore decades ago, local artists now create modern glass floats in a rainbow of styles—swirls, sparkles, metallics, transparent shells, and more.
The best part? If you find a float, it’s yours to keep!
These floats are hidden daily, not all at once, which means there’s always a new chance to discover one each time you walk the beach.
Where to Hunt for Glass Floats
The official float drop zone spans seven miles of Lincoln City beach:
- Roads End
- Lincoln City proper (NW 15th Street, D River, etc.)
- Nelscott
- Taft
- Siletz Bay
Pro Tip: Start early in the day for the best chances, and look just above the high-tide line and below the embankment. Float Fairies hide floats in daylight hours only.
Official Rules of the 2025 Glass Float Hunt
Before you head out on your float-finding adventure, be sure to follow these important guidelines:
- Floats are hidden during daylight hours only
- Floats will never be placed in vegetation, dunes, or dangerous terrain
- Hiding happens every day, not just once
- One float per person per year
- Extreme weather may delay drops—check official updates
Respect the beach and fellow seekers—leave no trace and stay safe.
How to Register Your Float
Once you’ve discovered a float, don’t forget to register it! Doing so will provide you with:
- A Certificate of Authenticity
- The name and details of the artist who created your float
- A permanent record of your find

- If you would rather register your float in person, stop by the Lincoln City Visitor Information Center at 801 SW Hwy 101, 4th floor Monday through Friday 8am – 5pm.
Interested in Making Your Own Glass Float?
Book an appointment with a local glassblower to create your own glass art at Lincoln City Glass Center. Choose from a votive candle holder, glass heart, paperweight, jellyfish paperweights or a fluted bowl. Class costs range from $75-$225. Items must cool in their kiln overnight and are available for pickup at 10am the next following day, or you can choose to have your work of art shipped home.
What to Pack for Spring Break on the Oregon Coast
March and April on the Oregon Coast are known for changing weather—a mix of bluebird skies, ocean spray, and wind-blown rain.

- Layers (base, fleece, outer shell)
