No trip to Newport is complete without visiting the Yaquina Head Outstanding Natural Area. This park is filled with stunning views at every turn, teeming tide pools to explore, and home to Yaquina Bay Lighthouse, the tallest lighthouse in Oregon.
Communications Hill Trail
This scenic 0.8-mile out-and-back trail is great for the whole family. The easy route takes about 26 minutes to complete, and is great for bird watching, hiking, and running. Leashed pups are welcome. Another family-friendly hike is the 1.1-mile out-and-back Hatfield Marine Science Center Estuary Trail. The easy and flat route is great for birding, walking, and hiking. No dogs allowed.
